Section One: Soil Preparation

a)         Ridging is needed if the annual precipitation is over 600mm. and take measures of preventing waterlogging(digging a drainage ditch if the annual precipitation is over 1200mm), while no need in dry land.

b)         Planting in hilly land, the direction of harrowing soil should be downhill, thus enabling to drain away the water and prevent waterlogging, for peony’s root don’t like waterlogging.

c)         Use Equidistant Row planting method in dry slope land. Rowledge 1m, plant space 1m, density 667plants/mu.

d)         The diameter of planting pit should be 40cm, and the depth should also be 40cm.
